Jerk City Wardour St, London
A quick look at London Eating or Time Out will tell you that this place, is the mutts nuts (excellent). It’s in a great location in the West End, and the fast and friendly service make it a great place to go before your evenings entertainment.
I love Caribbean food and it doesn’t get much better than this. A plate of curried chicken, with rice and peas and salad will set you back around £6.50 for a medium, or £7.50 for a large; Medium is a big enough plate for me. I’ve eaten at this place plenty. I’ve had all the chicken dishes (jerk chicken, curry and stew) and the curried mutton and each time the meat is cooked to perfection in their respective sauces and all cooked on the bone. as it should be (take note horrid “Indian” restaurants and their minging breast meat). If I had a complaint, I’d say the Jerk sauce seasoning was a bit too smoky sweet – more spice and less bbq please
Jerk City is small and cosy with about 30 seats. They’re generally busy but super organised at the same time; Order your food at the till area, take and keep hold of your receipt, then grab an empty table. Within 10 minutes a friendly lady or man puts food on the table.
Man, the thought of curry chicken, a side of plantain, all washed down with ginger beer. I’m in Jerk City Heaven!
